One of my favourite aspects of photography is zooming right in on the easily-missed features of a landscape and capturing something magical. In this case, I was hiking at the Walls of Jerusalem National Park in the middle of winter. It certainly wasn’t normal tourist weather but the atmosphere of these wild places in the depths of winter is something to behold. I came across a frozen tarn or glacial lake which had frozen over and was spellbound by the patterns which had formed on the icy surface. I love how the patterns have a geometric sensibility influenced by the structure of the ice but still incorporate this element of “artistic license” with very tasteful lines, dots and cross-hatching. Nature truly is the greatest artist.
We have carefully sealed the front and back of the image to ensure that it is water resistant. It will be OK if you get caught in the rain, but please avoid submerging it when swimming or bathing. Regular cleaning with a silver cloth will keep the pinch bail nice and shiny.
